School Idea and History
Mr. Demetrios Sarikas has been involved in music from a young age and as a teenager had pursued and established his career in the arts.
As an experienced guitarist, he developed a talent for audio recording and sound engineering and eventually established a successful commercial studio.

Mr. Demetrios Sarikas arranged weekdays and weekends for children from local schools to come and learn how to use the studio and its equipment.
Today, he has a wealth of knowledge and experience which led him to an approach the Department of Social Security to attend an unemployment seminar. After a lengthy feasibility study, he discovered that 90% of the unemployed were young and wanted to further a career in the Musical Arts.
Three years ago, a non-profitable company was established with consideration to help the unemployed and underprivileged in the musical arts.
There has been constant communication between Mr. Demetrios Sarikas and Government funding organisations offering their full support.
Together with Mr. Anthony Flourentzou ( member of the board of director of the non-profitable company today known as Royal London Music Workshop ). Anthony Flourentzou in collaboration with Mr. William Chan brought the school project of musical arts to the attention of the Royal and Imperial House of Tadmur in the person of H.E Mark Augustus I the Duke Of Latakia, Grand Prior of the United Kingdom and Great Britain for Orden Bonaria, who adopted the project and changed the Project name from North London music workshop ltd to Royal London Music Workshop.

The Concept

To offer a workshop / training for the local community, schools, teenagers, unemployed.
The idea is to teach and train people who are under privileged, unemployed and also people needing to further their education in, recording music, playing instruments, rudiments of music, singing and learning all about the record industry.
+
Additional workshops will be run on weekends for children that are at school during the day. These workshops will teach ethnic instrumentation and different cultures of music. The weekend workshops will not have qualifications at the end of them but will be a place where young kids can enjoy instruments and music, keeping them off the streets.

Funding and Income

Funding is a very important area to the school which will give it longevity, growth and success. It is an important department which will be set up from the beginning, to maintain funding applications to existing bodies like The National Lottery Fund, Community Chest, Princes Trust and many similar funding bodies. There will also be additional income from the public sector which will allow the school to generate its own financial support. This will be structured by selling either, studio time, rehearsal time and private tutoring (students that pay).

Public sector
The public sector is an arena that will generate income for the school and will keep the school in operation by helping to pay the fees throughout the year. Funding will also be applied for through the normal channels in the way of events, sponsorship and government.

Qualifications

The schools syllabus will be placed through the education board for classification which means it will be given a level of qualification which is recognized by authorities and professionals in the music industry. There are already syllabuses available from the education board that can be used, but, through experienced opinion, these have areas of information that are not relevant to the music and recording industry. The certificated courses only apply to the week courses and not the under 17 weekend workshops.

Careers department
This department is so important and will be there as an output means of job/career hunting. This means that from the moment a student comes into the school to the point of which they pass there qualification the careers department will be working with jobcentres and other job finding places including direct to the employers, to help search for employment and work experience for the students.

Concert Arena

The concert arena is a place where students can showcase there work, organise events and sound engineers can practice there front of house mixing skills which they have learned on bands that perform there. This concert arena can also be offered to the private sector for paid use so funds can help the school continue.

Library
This will be a library based on the music industry, music, and music scores, passed and present

Provider

The school needs to be a ‘Provider’ this is done with the New Deal agency which is part of the jobseekers and the unemployment office. In being a Provider this means that the unemployment and jobseekers departments can send unemployed people to be qualified, trained and put back into the working environment. This service is paid for by the government for each student.

Charity

The school will need charitable status to enable it to raise funds to help pay for the annual operation. This also means that charitable functions and events can be organised to earn income. With this granted status, it enables the school to legally approach large companies and ask for donations.

Workshops
This workshop will only be an under seventeen years of age program that cannot attend in a school week. This is a workshop that is not certificated by the education board. A certificate will be issued by the school as a part of an incentive programme which will psychologically give weekend students a sense of achievement and fuel further interest in the musical arts and music business. This will also be a place that young teenagers can be in a safe environment keeping them off the streets and distanced from tempting injustices. This will be available on Saturdays and Sundays only.
